Blue light blocking is a lens type, not a product category we invented for a season. It sits alongside the tinted lenses in the same frames, and it is the one pair in the range you would wear indoors.
How much blue light does this lens filter?
Approximately 30%.
That number deserves context, because the blue light industry has a percentage problem. A filtering percentage means nothing without the wavelength band it was measured across — a lens can advertise 80% by measuring a single narrow peak, while a lens filtering 30% evenly across the whole 400–500 nm range does more real work. Any brand quoting a big number without a wavelength is quoting marketing, not optics.
Optically, blue light splits into two parts that should not be treated the same. The 400–455 nm band is the high-energy end — the part worth reducing. The 455–500 nm band is blue-turquoise light, which is involved in normal circadian and visual function and which you do not want to remove. A well-designed filter reduces the first without stripping the second.

Why 30% and not 90%?
Because of what you lose. The industry works in three practical bands:
- 10–30% — all-day and office use. Minimal color distortion. Whites stay white.
- 30–60% — evening and gaming. A visible yellow or amber cast.
- 60–99% — the last hour or two before sleep. Heavy amber or red. Not usable for anything where color matters.
At 30% this lens sits at the top of the all-day band: meaningful filtering with color you can still trust. A 90% lens is not a better version of this — it is a different tool for a different hour of the day, and you would not want to wear it at work.

People who spend the day at a screen, work under indoor lighting, drive at night, or read in the evening. It is the pair that lives on a desk rather than in a glovebox.
Is this a sunglass?
No. Blue light blocking is a clear-to-lightly-tinted lens intended for indoor and low-light use. If you want sun protection, choose one of the tinted lens colors instead — every one of those carries full UV400.

Do blue light glasses help with eye strain or sleep?
The evidence is genuinely mixed and we are not going to overstate it. Several large reviews of blue-light-filtering lenses and digital eye strain have found limited or inconsistent benefit. What is better established is that light exposure in the evening affects circadian timing. Many people report being more comfortable at a screen wearing them. We will tell you what the lens filters; whether it helps you is worth trying rather than taking on faith.
